Oya Teal Fan crocheted lace necklace

This lariat Oya necklace features lace fans in teal and aqua with aqua seed bead work throughout. Single-strand necklace can be styled several ways--looped once around the neck (like a scarf), wrapped multiple times (like a choker), or folded in half with the tails through the loop (like a lariat).

Oya is a crocheted lace originating in Anatolia (now Turkey). It is a tradition of lace-making dating back to the 15th century, and is used as embellishment for clothing and home textiles. Many flowers carried symbolic meaning, originally signifying the age, marital status, or outlook of the wearer, as well as to convey hope or good fortune.
