Cézanne Still Lifes Boxed Notecards
Dr. Albert Barnes took great interest in the works of Cézanne. In his 1925 book The Art in Painting, he noted that Cézanne ranked with ”the greatest painters of all ages” and cited the artist’s ability to portray the beauty of objects after they had been “stripped of the irrelevant and the accidental” as justification. During his nearly forty years of art collecting, Dr. Barnes acquired sixty-nine works by Cézanne, including notable still lifes like Ginger Jar, The Large Pear, and Bottle and Fruits.
