Barnes Earrings, Triangles Pattern
The Barnes collection of African Art is displayed alongside European paintings to highlight the fact that light, line, color, and form are common to all art regardless of origin. This multi-cultural approach extends into the 21st century with this collection of jewelry. The patterns found in the works of African art at the Barnes Foundation were the inspiration for this modern take on ancient rhythms.
This pair of enameled earrings comes in a red velvet pouch with an information card. The pouch is divided inside, to keep the earrings safe from damage—perfect for traveling. Each earring is embossed with "Barnes" on the back. ½ × 1 in (1.3 × 2.5 cm). Made in Canada of enamel over nickel-plated brass.
The triangles pattern is inspired by a door in the collection made by the Baule peoples of Africa's Ivory Coast in the late 19th or early 20th century.
