A prolific artist, writer, and teacher, Paul Klee (German, born in Switzerland, 1879 - 1940) was a distinctive force in twentieth century art. He made playful, inventive works characterized by a highly individual style of abstracted forms and symbols. This tie represents Klee's Structural I (gouache on cardboard, bordered in ink) in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
