Born in the small Oaxacan village of Tututepec, Mexico, in a Mixtec Indian community, Federico Jimenez moved to the US to work and study jewelry and design in the late sixties. His appreciation for Meso-American art was sparked in his late teens when he and his father uncovered a pre-Columbian Mixtec Indian pectoral chest plate buried under their house. During his prolific career he ran galleries, made jewelry, and founded a museum for his collection. His jewelry line blends timeless elegance with artisanal craftsmanship, highlighting his skills in Mexican craft and Native American silver-smithing.
